Recital News

Some of you have been asking about the date for our end-of-year recital, and I'm sending home letters about that this week.  Our tentative date is Sunday, June 24th at 4 PM.  We'll be performing at Calvary Baptist Church again; definitely loving that new Yamaha baby grand!  Let me know if you cannot make that date.  It's important that all of you be there, so I will adjust the date accordingly.  This is one of the luxuries of having a small class.  So RSVP and keep on practicing.  I'm looking forward to a great evening of music!

2012 Sault Ste Marie Music Festival

Congratulations to students H. Lawrence and A. Stevens who performed successfully in the Sault Ste. Marie Music Festival this past weekend.  H. Lawrence played Spooks by Clifford Poole, and A. Stevens played Forest Drums by Faber & Faber.  The adjudicator commended both girls for their expressive playing and both pianists said that they enjoyed the experience and hope to play again next year.  The S.S.M. Music Festival is a great opportunity for young musicians to gain performance experience and to get outside feedback on their skills.  This year's adjudicator in the piano division, Marlene Finn, gave very encouraging and constructive comments to the participants and worked right at the piano with each individual.  It was a valuable learning experience for both the students and teachers!

This afternoon the festival scholarship winners were announced, and A. Stevens was awarded the $25.00 Helbling Piano Workshop Scholarship for her performance.  We are all very proud of her!  Congratulations!
